What is a Current Transformer?
A current transformer (CT) 200/5 is an electrical transformer (CT) that measures the current in a circuit. Using a current transformer, a lower current level is obtained. That makes it safe and easy to measure or monitor.
The most current transformer (CT) 200/5 has a standard secondary rating of 5 amps. There 200/5 expresses the ratio of the primary and secondary currents.
This means that the primary current is 20 times greater than the secondary current so when 200 amps is flowing in the primary winding it will result in 5 amps flowing in the secondary winding. The Energy meter, Electronic Circuit Breaker, and Current sensors perform their operations.
